One scout here took 1st at district and 1st at council with my help and he wanted to send in his car to run since New York is way to far from louisiana for a scout family To drive just to run a car. They said NO proxy racing. So it is definitely not the king or championship race for scouts if can't send in cars to run. I would like to see a scout race set up for the southern states. What about scout races on the pro track once a month. Must prove that the scout is still signed up and active to run. Might can run a week later than pros? That way no pro cars would b around the scouts for safety reasons. More income for the track for sure. JS.

This is what the NPWDRL Box Stock Class is for. There doesn't seem to be much participation.

i agree that is a cool place and I also think it is a great race for the scouts. It's just not very easy for a average family that lives from Friday to Friday to travel to NY to race. Like said I think it's a great race and really like that the scouts get to race more than just at the local level.

Yes it did and I will race it and I have a scout and his dad that will race to. Trying to get some new guys on board. They might try the box stock class since it is close to what they run already. We are trying hard to get this oil down but struggling with it. Scouts here are made to run graphite only. I know what everyone says oil is dry but trying to teach honesty and loyalty are what we teach them. Would very bad for them to get DQ for it.

There were 10 racers this past race. That's a pretty healthy turnout, IMO. Especially given that the only people who likely know about it for the most part are already racing SS and BASX.

All right Momentum Racing - before you say to much about the MAPWD... take the time to learn that our "Event" is indeed a destination just as Times Square is -- Omaha has many Family centered things that are not just #1 in the United States but #1 in the World - I have spoken and attempted to offer the experience that we have learned with the coordinator of the event there in NYC - I think it is AWESOME that you are taking Pinewood Derby to a higher level - getting more involved - it helps Scouting, it helps build our Scouts into better citizens - and pinewood derby can help teach many of the lessons that we all learn in life. You HAVE to have RULES that are FAIR and ENFORCEABLE - you also have to follow what you say you are going to do - I can not imagine if we changed our format of racing during the event. I would encourage you to consider making a Trip to the Midwest sometime, it is not NYC but it is something pretty special. Just ask the many families that annually travel from as far as NY - Alaska, California, Mississippi, Minnesota and the many, many states that are represented each year.

PacCanweb, We were at the NYC "world championships" and I agree to say the least it was a joke! My son was a world champion for Wolves and did 3rd in the final 15. We were the ones from California. The Tigers car had a best time of 2.92 and it was definitely insane. He new how to build a car. lol.

No doubt. My son's car kept getting progressively faster and faster, then slowed. The rough handling IMO was the likely culprit.
On his very last run, the stop section after the finish line had come apart and his car made a loud noise as it went through it. Didn't hurt the time for that run since it was past the finish line, but when the "Fast 15" was run, he was well over a tenth slower...so it was either sitting in the heat for over an hour that slowed it or it was damaged on that last run.
Either way, the best he (or any of the rest of the kids) was going to do was 2nd to that Tiger car.

It was a fun time, though.

I know they are planning to do this again this year and hope they do. I know it might not be up to league racer standards (it's for the kids), but it looks like a fun time for my son if he qualifies.

We just had the world championships held in St.George Utah on Dec 3rd. It was very fast racing with the best in the world, and you could mail your car in if you did not want to buy plane tickets and hotel, I believe if you want to test your cars with the best in the WORLD, you should let proxy racing be a part of your event.

Amen brother! That was an expensive trip coming from California. Even if they let us mail our cars in we still would have went. I will say it was an awesome trip my kids will never forget and he didn't know the difference. Hopefully they will take some advice on how to run it (format etc...).
